Thought for the Day 17th April

Back home  /  News  /  Thought for the Day 17th April

Dear friends,

Here is a 'thought for the day' prepared by Sandra Collins. Thank you, Sandra.

And... I thank Lynette Muir (Cottingham) for raising with me an 'emergency appeal'.
As the days of lockdown are rapidly becoming weeks and months we are very mindful of children and families for whom this time is particular difficult. Parents not having an income has impacted their lives. Finance for food and essentials I is becoming increasingly short. We are encouraged to support Action for Children. This is a charity, rooted in the Methodist Church, which seeks to help vulnerable children throughout the UK. We would have had collection envelopes to distribute on Easter Sunday for your freewill offerings. Whilst it is not possible for us to receive collections in the usual way, you can, if you wish, make a donation directly to Action for Children via their web-site: https://www.actionforchildren.org.uk/.

And...
A quick update. I've been in communication with Rev. Noel from Zimbabwe today. We were sharing exactly the same stories of 'lock-down' and the changed pattern of church and family life. He was disappointed that he had cancelled his District Easter Service where they were expecting 4,000 people to attend. He. too, is relying on e-mail, YouTube and Facebook to send worship materials. He sends his best wishes to you. Across the miles, and continents, we are all have a similar experience. So much now held in common, a world united in care, prayer, and Easter hope.

Stay safe,
Andrew
